Should hogging be a long mute instead of a ban?

Recently I was banned for hogging and staff disrespect. Which I cant deny. I'm banned for three months but I love the server and cant stand being banned.
Instead of banning a player for hogging why dont they just get muted for a couple days or just a period of time. I genuinely am distraught that I got banned but I feel like its more reasonable to mute someone for a long period of time instead of banning them for hogging the microphone. This isn't a ban appeal but I just think its a better system. I enjoy hearing others rap but if they hog then no one else gets to go. But instead of slapping them in the face and banning them for a year, what about a mute? It just seems unfair that they don't get to enjoy others rapping and surfing for a couple months or even years! Tell me your thoughts about this. I just want to see a better punishment system, the server is very strict and has nasty punishments.

The reason for your previous ban was for "Ignoring Admins". For the fact of the reason "Hogging the mic", this reason is normally a mute but as the fact that you started ignoring the admin and then afterwards, challenging the admin constitutes staff disrespect.
Toxic Behavior Attacking, threatening or disrespecting other members or staff fall under this category. The exception to this rule is in the context of a rap battle. Punishments will range from a 30 minute mute to a permanent ban. The length is at the discretion of the Imperfect Gamers staff. With staff disrespect, the punishment can "Punishments will range from a 30 minute mute to a permanent ban.". Though the ban may be "unjustified" to you, no staff on IG will stand for disrespect towards staff. For this reason, you were banned for staff respect, with the length being determined by the staff member dealing the punishment. At this point, this post became irrelevant when you thought the main reason of the ban was for hogging the mic (Which it wasn't) instead of the real reason. The current mute system for hogging the mic is also based on the staff members discretion depending on the severity. This does not mean that we will go harder on you just because we don't like you. Normally for hogging the mic though, its a normal 30 minute mute, and that's what most players get. Like I said, your ban was based on different reasoning. Thanks & Good Gaming, Seethingword

I said that the post isn't a ban appeal? So why are you replying with this.

Your spreading false information. I came to correct it.

Per Seethingword's explanation, I think we can conclude that hogging is not a ban by staff procedures and protocol. We can also infer the reason behind the creation for this thread and also clear up misconceptions. I would love to encourage talks like this, we just need direction. If you feel there is anything that needs to be cleared up please I implore you to do so. You're right it's not a ban appeal but this is a board for conversation outside of the staff / unban board and so discussion here can be dynamic and not reflect on staff ettiquete expectations within those subforums of merit (Unbans / Staff Applicatioons).
