When you got banned: 7/10/20
Why you got banned: F bomb

What was the situation before you got banned:

Ok so I used to be a regular on this server like 2-3 years ago, but then my laptop started deteriorating and I could no longer run CSGO. I just got a new computer (and a new steam account), so I hopped back on the rapping server, super exited to see that it even still existed. So I get on, and I'm rapping. In my freestyle, I say the word "mattress". At this point I have like half a second to think of something that rhymes, and all I could think of was the F bomb (I know it doesn't exactly rhyme). So anyway I got banned for 11 months for this. When I used to play on this server 2-3 years ago, people were dropping the F bomb like it was no ones business (that doesn't make it okay, it just puts into context why I was unaware of this rule). I use freestyling as a form of therapy (as I'm sure many of us do), and this server has really gotten me through tough times. I really do love this server.

Are you in the wrong or in the right:

I am in the wrong. The F bomb is a horrible word, I grew up in as environment where it was said a lot (not an excuse, just more context). Even though I didn't use the word in a homophobic context, the mere use of the word is enough to hurt someone, and for that, I really do feel remorse. I hope I did not hurt anyone, and I hope I did not damage the community. This rule banning the F bomb was new to me, and I fully support it. I will take the time to look through the rules and update myself on how things have changed. This is something I should have done before I even started rapping.

If punishment is deserved provide an alternative you would like that you yourself think is fair.

Obviously I would like to be unbanned as soon as possible, however I am unsure if I am deserving of it. I am willing to be an example to others why dropping the F bomb is not okay, my ban will be its own contribution to the community of sorts. Although I did not know this was a rule, I should have assumed. In fact, I shouldn't have even said it in the first place. I hate to make excuses, but all I can say is that it slipped. I do not want to say that I should be unbanned immediately because I don't feel like it's my place. That being said I do not want to endure an 11 month ban. With this in mind, I would propose that anywhere in between an immediate unban and a one week ban is fair. I am sorry to anyone I may have hurt, and I am sorry for wasting the time of the admins. Upon my return I promise I will be an upstanding community member.

Thanks,

Hello 2cm,

As you know, I was the one who banned you. While I do see that you were on the server 2-3 years ago, you should read the rules over to make sure something hasn't or has changed as rules can be updated at any point. I did make note right after You were banned that the reference that you said the word in was in question form and that you might have been honestly asking the question "Is this word banned", rather than saying it just to say it.

In light of this ban appeal, and in the comment and annotation that you did use the word and are apologetic for it, I have chosen to lift your ban, effective immediately. Please take the time to read over the rules again as a refresher just to be sure you understand them.

Please be careful in the future as some other staff members might not be as forgiving.

Thanks and Good Gaming,
